What Is Artificial Emotional Intelligence: What Is It? Video Transcript
You’ve probably seen the term Artificial Intelligence everywhere. Everybody seems to be developing Artificial Intelligence products, but today I want to talk about something that’s even more exciting, which is Artificial Emotional Intelligence. For us in Travel Safety, this is going to be a game changer because it allows us to do two things in a very different way.
Artificial Emotional Intelligence In Chatbots
First of all, think about how we do the response – the challenge response – in terms of our Travel Safety solutions. Let’s say we’re a traveler, and we want to ask the solution to question, let’s say, “Is it safe to travel?” In our normal Chabot software, that can be done very, very easily. The Chatbot has a very friendly personality, it can be a little bit verbose, it’s very friendly. But in a situation where the traveler is under stress, and they need to get the information directly, we need to ensure our solution can adapt to the needs of the user.
This is where Artificial Emotional Intelligence comes in. It is able to detect the emotional state of the person it’s having conversation with, and adjust its style. Rather than being friendly, it can be more direct at the point where the user needs it to be more direct.
Artificial Emotional Intelligence In Training
The second area where Artificial Emotional Intelligence is going to change the game is inside training. For example, at the moment, when we’re training people in areas like hostage negotiation, how do you train somebody to deal with a hostage taker? How do you talk them down? They’re going to be in a state of stress. Our software is capable of mimicking and responding to your behavior.
If you’re talking to it in a calm way, you can actually talk the Chatbot into a state of calmness where a negotiation can happen. Equally, you can get it riled up or excited, and then maybe the negotiation doesn’t end up quite as well as you’d expect.
You can’t learn to swim on the internet, and what we’re trying to do here is we’re trying to create training at a different level – a level where you’re able to learn not just what to say, and in real-time.
